The OGMA by Stephen McGonigle
The cinematic for Stephen McGonigle was an incredible project to work on. It had an ambitious and creative concept, a huge scale virtual environment and numerous models required to make it. It was the perfect way to announce the release of his new watch, Ogma.
The Cinematic
The finished cinematic short was to depict Stephen making a watch in his Swiss atelier before being taken to the place he was born which provides most of the inspiration for his designs, Ireland. We discussed using Skellig Michael, a rocky island off the coast of Kerry that is famous for its appearance in Star Wars. It really is an amazing place and had that mystical, godly look that suited the theme of the new watch. The build footage below shows how we managed to get a virtual version of the video

Here are some more notable shots. The swinging lamp just has a feeling about it. Creating that misty, dark, Celtic atmosphere. It also served as a great way to get the music started again.
The Build
Highlights 01
In this video you'll see some of the iconic locations around Skellig Michael. All recreated in the virtual space. The first of those landmarks is the lighthouse at Skellig. The lighthouse has already been seen in the film though. On the postcard that becomes alive at the very start.
We then see the famous steps and of course the monks stone huts. McGonigle watches all have a very distinctive bridge. It could be the most notable part of the watch, which is why it is shown at the stone huts as these are the most famous landmarks on the island.
Rendered Images
Luxury items need the highest quality rendered images. The Ogma is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship so with these renderings it was important to get close so it could be seen and appreciated. The various materials, textures and grains are all specifically selected on its step tiered design to create an immediately eye catching piece that will be internationally renowned by those in the industry.
